Jubayr ibn Mut'im, Abu Asma' al-Rahbi, and Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami. It was disliked by Ibn Mas'ud, Shurayh, al-Sha'bi, and al-Thawri. Abu Hanifah said: The prayer is invalidated by it, based on what al-Harith narrated from Ali, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Do not prompt the imam." Our evidence is what Ibn Umar narrated, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed a prayer and recited in it, but became confused. When he turned away, he said to Ubayy: "Did you pray with us?" He said: "Yes." He said: "What prevented you?" This was recorded by Abu Dawud, who said: al-Khattabi said: Its chain of narration is sound. From Ibn Abbas, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) hesitated in his recitation during the morning prayer, but they did not prompt him. When he finished the prayer, he looked at the faces of the people and said: "Was Ubayy ibn Ka'b not present for the prayer with you?" They said: "No." The people perceived that he had only checked for him so that he would prompt him. This was recorded by al-Athram. Musawwar ibn Yazid al-Maliki narrated, saying: I witnessed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) reciting in prayer and he omitted a verse from the Qur'an. It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, you omitted such-and-such verse." He said: "Why did you not remind me of it?" This was recorded by Abu Dawud and al-Athram. Furthermore, because it is an alerting of his imam by something that is legislated in the prayer, it resembles tasbih. The hadith of Ali is narrated by al-Harith, and al-Sha'bi said: "He was a liar." Ali himself said: "If the imam asks you for food, feed him," meaning if he struggles in recitation, then correct him. This was recorded by al-Athram. Al-Hasan said:
