the urine of a female infant; because it is an impure urine, so it is obligatory to wash it, like other impure urines. Furthermore, it is a ruling related to impurity, so the male and female are equal in it, like all other rulings concerning it (2). Our argument is what Umm Qays bint Mihsan narrated: that she brought a young son of hers, who had not yet eaten food, to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, placed him on his lap, and he urinated on his garment, so he called for water, sprinkled it, and did not wash it. It is also narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: A child was brought to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he urinated on his garment, so he called for water, made it follow the urine, and did not wash it. Both are agreed upon (3). From Lubabah bint al-Harith, she said: Al-Husayn ibn Ali was in the lap of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he urinated on him. I said: "Put on another garment and give me your izar (lower garment) so I may wash it." He said: "The urine of a female is washed, and the urine of a male is sprinkled." Narrated by Abu Dawud (4). And from Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The urine of a male infant is sprinkled, and the urine of a female infant is washed." Qatadah said: This is as long as they have not yet eaten food; if they have eaten food, the urine of both is washed. Narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad (6).
