And because in the latter part of the night, the Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, descends to the lowest heaven; as (89) Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, descends to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and He says: 'Who is calling upon Me, that I may answer him? Who is asking of Me, that I may give to him? And who is seeking My forgiveness, that I may forgive him?'" Agreed upon (90). Abu 'Abd Allah said: If he dozes—meaning after the Tahajjud—then no sign of sleepiness appears on him, but if he does not doze, it appears on him. Masruq said: I asked 'Aishah: At what time did the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) pray? She said: Whenever he heard the crier, he would stand up and pray. من وِتْرِهِ، ولأنَّ آخِرَ اللَّيْلِ يَنْزِلُ فيه الرَّبُّ تَبَارَكَ وتعالى إلى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا؛ كما (٨٩) رَوَى أبو هُريْرَةَ، أنَّ رسولَ اللهِ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم- قال: "يَنْزِلُ رَبُّنَا تَبَارَكَ وتَعَالَى إلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا حِينَ يَبْقَى ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الآخِرُ، فَيَقُولُ: مَنْ يَدْعُونِي فَأسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ؟ وَمَنْ يَسْأَلُنى فأُعْطِيهِ؟ وَمَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي فأغْفِرُ لَهُ؟ " مُتَّفَقٌ عليه (٩٠). قال أبو عبدِ اللهِ: إذا أغْفَى - يَعْنى بعدَ التَّهَجُّدِ - فإنَّه لا يَبِينُ عليه أثرُ السَّهَرِ، وإذا لم يُغْفِ يَبِينُ عليه. وقال مَسْرُوقٌ: سألتُ عائشةَ: أيَّ حِينٍ كان يُصَلِّى رَسُولُ اللهِ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-؟ قالت: كان إذا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ قَامَ، فَصَلَّى. مُتَّفَقٌ عليه (٩١).
