from his Witr. And because in the latter part of the night, the Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, descends to the lowest heaven; as (89) Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, descends to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and He says: 'Who is calling upon Me, that I may answer him? Who is asking of Me, that I may give to him? And who is seeking My forgiveness, that I may forgive him?'" Agreed upon (90). Abu 'Abd Allah said: If he dozes—meaning after the Tahajjud—then no sign of sleepiness appears on him, but if he does not doze, it appears on him. Masruq said: I asked 'Aishah: At what time did the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) pray? She said: Whenever he heard the crier, he would stand up and pray. Agreed upon (91).
