Some of them said: When they departed, they would hasten their servants with the meal, fearing the dawn would break, and the reciter would recite two hundred verses.

Section: Abu Dawud said: I heard Ahmad say: It is pleasing to me that one should pray with the Imam and perform the Witr prayer with him. The Prophet -peace and blessings of Allah be upon him- said: "Indeed, when a man stands with the Imam until he departs, it is recorded for him as the remainder of his night" (25). He said: Ahmad used to stand with the people in prayer and perform the Witr with them. Al-Athram said: The one who used to lead him in prayer in the month of Ramadan informed me that he used to pray the entire Tarawih and the Witr with them. He said (26): And he would wait for me after that until I stood, and then he would stand, as if he were following the hadith of Abu Dharr: "When he stands with the Imam until he departs, it is recorded for him as the remainder of his night." Abu Dawud said: Ahmad was asked about a group who prayed five Tarawih prayers in Ramadan without resting between them. He said: There is no harm in it. He said (26): And he was asked about someone who caught two rak'ahs of their rest (tarwihah), should he pray two rak'ahs to it? He did not view that as appropriate and said: It is a voluntary (tatawwu') prayer. It was said to Ahmad: Should the night prayer -meaning in Tarawih- be delayed until the end of the night? He said: No, the Sunnah of the Muslims is more beloved to me.

A concession (rukhsah) from some of the Companions was mentioned to Abu Abd Allah regarding this, so he said: This is false; it only exists from al-Hasan and Sa'id ibn Jubayr. Ahmad said: One should perform voluntary prayers after the obligatory prayer, but one should not perform voluntary prayers between the Tarawih. Al-Athram narrated from Abu al-Darda' that he saw a people praying between the Tarawih, so he said: What is this prayer? Do you pray while your Imam is before you? Whoever turns away from us is not one of us. He also said: It is from a man's lack of jurisprudence (fiqh) that he is seen in the mosque and is not in prayer.

Section: As for the ta'qib, which is to pray another voluntary prayer in congregation after the Tarawih, or
