Those of our companions other than al-Khiraqi stated: It is recommended that one says during the Hay'alah: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah" (There is no power and no strength except by Allah). Ahmad explicitly stated this, due to what al-Athram narrated with his chain of authority from Abu Rafi', from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that whenever he heard the Adhan, he would say like what the Muezzin says, and when he reached 'Hayya 'ala al-salah,' he said: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah" (5). Hafs ibn 'Asim ibn (6) 'Umar ibn al-Khattab narrated from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When the Muezzin says: 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar,' and one of you says: 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.' Then he says: 'Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah.' He says: 'Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah.' Then he says: 'Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasulu Allah.' He says: 'Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasulu Allah.' Then he says: 'Hayya 'ala al-salah.' He says: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.' Then he says: 'Hayya 'ala al-falah.' He says: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.' هُرَيْرَة (٢)، [وعمرو بنُ العاصِ وابْنُه] (٣)، وأُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ (٤). وقال غيرُ الْخِرَقِىِّ من أصحابِنا: يُسْتَحَبُّ أنْ يقولَ عند الحَيْعَلَةِ: لا حَوْلَ ولا قُوَّةَ إلَّا باللهِ. نَصَّ عليهِ أحمدُ؛ لما رَوَى الأَثْرَمُ، بإسْنَادِه عن أبي رَافِعٍ، عن النَّبِيِّ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-، أنَّهُ كان إذا سَمِعَ الأذَانَ، قالَ مِثْلَ ما يقولُ المُؤَذِّنُ، فإذا بَلَغَ حَيَّ على الصلاةِ، قال: "لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا باللهِ (٥) ". ورَوَى حَفْصُ بنُ عاصمِ بن (٦) عمر بن الخَطَّابِ، عن أبيهِ، عن جَدِّهِ، أن رسولَ اللهِ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم- قال: "إذَا قَالَ المُؤَذِّنُ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، فقَالَ أحَدُكُمْ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ. ثُمَّ قالَ: أشْهَدُ أنْ لَا إلهَ إلَّا اللهُ. قالَ: أشْهَدُ أنْ لَا إلهَ إلَّا اللهُ. ثُمَّ قالَ: أشْهَدُ أنَّ مُحَمَدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ. قالَ: أشْهَدُ أنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ. ثُمَّ قالَ: حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ. قالَ: لَا حَوْلَ ولَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا باللهِ، ثُمَّ قالَ: حَىَّ عَلَى الفَلَاحِ. قالَ: لَا حَوْلَ ولَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا باللهِ. ثم قالَ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ. قالَ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ. ثم قالَ: لَا إلهَ
