Chapter: The Times. The Muslims have reached consensus that the five prayers are timed with known, limited times, and this has been reported (15) in authentic, excellent hadiths. We will mention most of them in their places, if God Almighty wills. 109 – Issue; Abū al-Qāsim, may God have mercy on him, said: (And when the sun passes the meridian, the noon prayer [Ẓuhr] becomes obligatory). al-Khiraqī began by mentioning the noon prayer because Gabriel began with it when he led the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, in the hadith of Ibn ʿAbbās and Jābir, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, began with it when he taught the Companions the times of prayer in the hadith of Burayda and others, and the Companions, may God be pleased with them, began with it when they were asked about the times in the hadith of Abū Barza, Jābir, and others. It is called the First (al-ūlā), the Midday (al-hajīr), and the Noon (al-ẓuhr). Abū Barza said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, used to pray the Midday (al-hajīr), which they call the First (al-ūlā), when the sun declines. It is agreed upon (2), meaning when the sun passes the meridian.
