all of it (9), just as if two guardians married a woman to two men, one before the other, and the first of them is unknown; for the judgment of validity does not attach to one specifically, yet the judgment of the marriage is established regarding the woman, such that it is not permissible for her to marry another husband. As for if we are ignorant of the manner in which they occurred, the better view is that it is also not permissible to hold the Friday prayer; because the apparent state is the validity of one of them, for it is very far-fetched that they occurred simultaneously such that the ihram of one did not precede the other. What is extremely rare is treated as non-existent, and also because we have doubted a condition for holding the Friday prayer, so it is not permissible to hold it while in doubt regarding its condition. It is possible that they may hold it, because we are not certain of an impediment to its validity. But the first view is more sound.

Section: If one enters into the ihram for the Friday prayer, then it becomes clear during the prayer that the Friday prayer has been held in the city, the Friday prayer becomes invalid, and they must restart the Dhuhr prayer; because it has become clear that he entered into the ihram for it at a time when entering into the ihram for the Friday prayer is not permissible, so it is not valid, similar to if it became clear that he entered into the ihram for it after the time for the Asr prayer had begun. The Qadi said: It is recommended that he restart it as Dhuhr. This statement of his indicates that he is permitted to complete it as Dhuhr, by analogy with the masbuq (one who joins late) who caught less than a rak'ah, and as if he entered into the ihram for the Friday prayer and the number of congregants dispersed before its completion. The distinction is clear; for this person entered into the ihram for it at a time when the Friday prayer is not valid and entering into the ihram for it is not permissible, and the principle upon which he drew the analogy is different from this case.

Section: If there is a village adjacent to a city, and they hear the adhan from it, and they hold a Friday prayer there, the Friday prayer of the people of the city does not become invalid; because they are outside the city, and because the Friday prayer of the city has the merit of taking place within it. If there were two cities close to each other, and the people of each city could hear the adhan of the other city, such as the people of Misr (Fustat) and Cairo (11), the Friday prayer of one would not be invalidated by the Friday prayer of the other. The same applies to two neighboring villages; because each group among them has its own ruling, evidenced by the fact that the Friday prayer of one group does not complete its required number with the other group, nor is the Friday prayer obligatory upon them by completing the count with the other group.
