Fitr and Adha; the young women of marriageable age (al-'awatiq), and those kept in seclusion (dhawat al-khudur). As for those who are menstruating, they should stay away from the prayer area but witness the goodness and the supplication of the Muslims. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what if one of us does not have a jilbab?' He replied: 'Let her sister cover her with her own jilbab.'" Agreed upon (19). This is the wording of the narration of Muslim. The wording of the narration of al-Bukhari is: She said: "We were [commanded to] (20) go out on the day of Eid, to the extent that a virgin would come out from her seclusion, and menstruating women would come out, so they would be behind the people, reciting the Takbir along with their Takbir, and calling upon Allah with their supplication, hoping for the blessing of that day (21) and its purity." And from Umm Atiyya, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, gathered the women of the Ansar in a house, and he sent Umar ibn al-Khattab to us. He stood at the door and gave the greeting of peace (salam), and we returned it to him. He said: "I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to you. He has commanded us regarding the two Eids that we bring out the menstruating women and the young women (al-'uttaq) (22), and there is no Friday prayer upon us, and he forbade us from following funerals." Narrated by Abu Dawud (23). The Qadi said: The apparent meaning of the speech of Ahmad is that this is permissible but not recommended.
