the sun during the era of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he went out and would pray two rak'ahs and perform the taslim, then pray two rak'ahs and perform the taslim, until the sun became clear. Reported by Ahmad (6) from Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from al-Nu'man. Qabisah narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you see it, then pray as you would pray the latest prayer you performed of the obligatory ones." (7) Our evidence is that Abdullah ibn Amr said regarding the description of the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) during the eclipse: Then he prostrated, and he hardly lifted his head. Reported by Abu Dawud (8). In the hadith of Aisha: Then he raised his head, then prostrated a long prostration, then stood for a long standing, which was shorter than the first standing, then bowed a long bowing, which was shorter than the first bowing, then prostrated a long prostration, which was shorter than the first prostration. Reported by al-Bukhari (9). The omission of its mention in one hadith does not prevent its legitimacy if it is established from (10) the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). As for reciting aloud, it has been reported from Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, and it was performed by Abdullah ibn Zayd, while al-Bara' ibn 'Azib and Zayd ibn Arqam were present, and Abu Yusuf, Ishaq, and Ibn al-Mundhir held this view. Aisha narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited aloud in the eclipse prayer. Agreed upon (11). From 'Urwah, from Aisha, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (12) prayed the eclipse prayer,

الشَّمْسُ على عَهْدِ رسولِ اللهِ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-، فَخرَجَ فكان يُصَلِّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ويُسَلِّمُ، ويُصَلِّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ويُسَلِّمُ، حتى انْجَلَتِ الشَّمْسُ. رَوَاه أحمدُ (٦)، عنِ عبدِ الوَهَّابِ الثّقَفِىِّ، عن أيُّوبَ، عن أبي قِلَابَةَ، عن النُّعْمَانِ. ورَوَى قَبِيصَةُ أنَّ النَّبِىَّ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-، قال: "فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهَا فَصَلُّوا كَأحْدَثِ صَلَاةٍ صَلَّيْتُمُوهَا مِنَ المَكْتُوبَةِ" (٧). ولَنا، أنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بن عَمْرٍو قال في صِفَةِ صلاةِ رسولِ اللهِ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم- في الكُسُوفِ: ثم سَجَدَ، فلم يَكَدْ يَرْفَعُ. رَوَاهُ أبو دَاوُدَ (٨). وفي حَدِيثِ عائشةَ: ثم رَفَعَ، ثم سَجَدَ سُجُودًا طَوِيلًا، ثم قَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا، وهو دُونَ القِيَامِ الأوَّل، ثم رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا، وهو دُونَ الرُّكُوعِ الأوَّل، ثم سَجَدَ سُجُودًا طَوِيلًا، وهو دُونَ السُّجُودِ الأوَّل. رَرَاه البُخَارِىُّ (٩). وتَرْكُ ذِكْرِه في حَدِيثٍ لا يَمْنَعُ مَشْرُوعِيَّتَه إذا ثَبَتَ عن (١٠) النَّبِيِّ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-. وأمَّا الجَهْرُ فقد رُوِىَ عن عَلِىٍّ، رَضِىَ اللَّه عنه، وفَعَلَهُ عبدُ اللهِ بنُ زيدٍ وبِحَضْرَتِه البَرَاءُ بن عَازِبٍ وزَيْدُ بنُ أرْقَمَ، وبه قال أبو يوسفَ، وإسحاقُ، وابِنُ المُنْذِرِ. ورَوَتْ عائشةُ، أنَّ النَّبِيَّ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-[جَهَرَ في صلاةِ الخُسوفِ. مُتَّفَقٌ عليه (١١). وعن عُرْوَةَ، عن عائشةَ، أنَّ النَّبِيَّ -صلى اللَّه عليه وسلم-] (١٢) صَلَّى صلاةَ الكُسُوفِ،
