Section: It is recommended to visit the sick. Al-Bara' said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded us to follow funeral processions and to visit the sick. Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim (45). It is narrated from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no man who visits a sick person in the evening, but seventy thousand angels go out with him, seeking forgiveness for him until he wakes up in the morning, and he will have a garden in Paradise; and whoever visits him in the morning, seventy thousand angels go out with him seeking forgiveness for him until evening, and he will have a garden in Paradise" (46). Al-Tirmidhi said: This is a hasan gharib (good and strange) hadith. When one enters upon a sick person (47), he should pray for him and perform ruqyah (recitation of Quranic verses or supplications for healing) for him. Thabit said to Anas: "O Abu Hamzah, I have become ill." Anas said: "Shall I not perform ruqyah for you with the ruqyah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?"
