there is no god but Allah; if they say it, they protect their blood and wealth from me, except for its right." Some of them said: If he prays in the territory of Islam, he is not a Muslim, because he may intend to conceal himself by prayer and hide his religion, but if he prays in the territory of war, he is a Muslim, because there is no suspicion regarding him. Our evidence is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "I have been forbidden from killing those who pray," and his saying: "Between us and them is prayer." He thus made prayer a boundary between Islam and disbelief; so whoever prays has entered the boundary of Islam. He also said regarding the slave: "If he prays, then he is your brother."
