المغني لابن قدامة - ت التركي

This was narrated by al-Jawzajani with his chain of narration. It is the statement of those we named from the Companions, and no one from their era is known to have opposed them, thus it is an consensus (ijma'). Ahmad said: 'There is no disagreement in it except from Ibrahim.' Al-Jawzajani said: 'According to us, there is no disagreement in this; for disagreement only exists between peers and equals. However, when people have reached consensus (4) and the narrations from the Companions and the Successors (Tabi'in) are in agreement, then a man deviates from them, this is not called a disagreement.' The Qadi’s choice in this matter is contrary to the view of his Imam, his colleagues, and the consensus (5) of the Companions and the Successors, may Allah be pleased with them. Once this is established, it is recommended to perform one taslim to one's right, and if one performs it facing forward, there is no harm. Ahmad said: 'He performs one taslim.' And it was asked, 'Does he perform it facing forward?' He said, 'All of this, though the most that has been narrated regarding it is to his right.' It was asked, 'Quietly?' He said, 'Yes.' Meaning (6) that all of it is permissible, but the taslim to his right is better because it is the most narrated, and it is more similar to the taslim in other prayers. Ahmad said: 'He says: "Al-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah" (Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah).' It is narrated from him by Ali ibn Sa'id that he said: 'If he says: "Al-salamu 'alaykum" (Peace be upon you), it suffices him.' Al-Khallal narrated with his chain of narration from Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, that he prayed over Yazid ibn al-Mukaffif and performed one taslim to his right: "Al-salamu 'alaykum" (7).

Section: It is narrated from Mujahid that he said: "If you have prayed, do not leave your place of prayer until it is raised." He said: "And I saw Abdullah ibn Umar not leaving his place of prayer when he prayed over a funeral until he saw it on the hands of the men." Al-Awza'i said: "The rows are not to be broken up until the funeral is lifted."
