al-Nu'man and Umayr ibn Abi Waqqas, the brother of Sa'd, and both were young, and the hadith is general to all. What he mentioned is invalidated by women.

380 - Issue; he said: (And he shall be buried in his clothes, and if there is upon him anything of leather or weaponry, it shall be removed from him.)

As for his being buried in his clothes, we know of no disagreement regarding this, and it is established by the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Bury them in their clothes." Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered that the iron and leather be removed from the slain of Uhud, and that they be buried in their clothes, with their blood. This is not mandatory, but it is better. It is permissible for the guardian (wali) to remove his clothes and shroud him in others. Abu Hanifah said: Nothing is to be removed from him, due to the apparent meaning of the report. Our evidence is what was narrated, that Safiyyah sent to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) two garments to shroud Hamzah in them; he shrouded him in one of them and shrouded another man in the other. It was narrated by Ya'qub ibn Shaybah, who said: It has a sound chain of narration (salih al-isnad). This indicates that the choice lies with the guardian. The other hadith is to be interpreted as referring to permissibility and recommendation. Once this is established, it follows that there shall be removed from him whatever is not part of the common clothing of people, such as leather, furs, and iron. Ahmad said: No fur, boot, or leather shall be left upon him. This is the opinion of al-Shafi'i and Abu Hanifah. Malik said: Neither fur, nor boot, nor lined garment shall be removed from him, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Bury them in their clothes." This is general for all, and what we have narrated is more specific, so it takes precedence.
