He who was a weeper from among my mothers forever, today, I see myself today as one seized.

Let them cause me to hear it, for I shall not be a hearer of it when I am laid out upon the bier (47).

It is necessary to interpret the weeping in these hadiths as weeping that is not religiously sanctioned, which is that which is accompanied by lamentation, wailing (48), and the like, by the evidence of the hadiths we presented at the beginning of the issue.

Section: It is appropriate for the person afflicted with a calamity to seek help from Allah the Exalted, to find solace in His consolation, to comply with His command to seek help through patience and prayer, and to attain (49) what Allah has promised the patient, as He, the Glorified, says: {And give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided} (50). Muslim recorded in his "Sahih" from Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "There is no servant who is struck by a calamity and then says: {Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.} O Allah, reward me in my affliction, and compensate me with something better than it, except that Allah will reward him in his affliction and compensate him with something better." She said: So when Abu Salamah died, I said as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded me, and He compensated me with someone better than him, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (51). He must also beware of saying anything that would nullify his reward and provoke the anger of his Lord, such as things that resemble complaining or calling out in desperation, for Allah is Just and does not oppress. To Him belongs what He took and to Him (52) belongs what He gave, and He is the Doer of what He wills. He should not (53) invoke evil upon himself, for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, when Abu Salamah died: "Do not invoke upon yourselves except
