Section: The crops of one year are added to one another to complete the nisab, whether the time of their planting and ripening coincides or differs. Even if part of it is summer crop and part is spring crop, the summer crop is added to the spring crop. If sorghum and millet were harvested, then their roots grew again, one would be added to the other to complete the nisab, because they are all crops of a single year, so they are added to one another, just as if their planting and ripening were close in time.
Section: The fruits of a single year are added to one another, whether the time of their emergence and ripening coincides or differs, such that some are brought forward before others in that regard. If the fruit was plucked and then [the trees] produced more which was also plucked, they are added to one another. If one has date palms that bear two yields in a year, one is added to the other. Al-Qadi said: They are not added. This is also the view of Al-Shafi'i, because it is a yield that is separate from the first, so its ruling is the same as the yield of another year. If one has date palms that bear once and date palms that bear twice, we add the first yield to the single yield, and nothing is obligatory on the second unless it reaches the nisab on its own. The correct view is that one of the two yields is added to the other. This was mentioned by Abu al-Khattab and Ibn 'Aqil, because they are the fruit of a single year, so they are added to one another, like the crops of a single year and like sorghum that grows twice. Furthermore, the second yield would be added to the single yield if there were no first yield, so the same applies when there is [a first yield]; the existence of the first yield is not a valid preventative factor, as proven by the case of the first yield of sorghum, and what he mentioned regarding the separation is invalidated by the case of sorghum. And Allah knows best what is correct.
