The people go out to the prayer. And from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri who said: We used to pay Zakat al-Fitr as one sa’ of food, or one sa’ of barley, or one sa’ of dates, or one sa’ of aqit (dried curd), or one sa’ of raisins. Both are agreed upon. Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab and Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz said regarding the Almighty's saying: "He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself": It is Zakat al-Fitr. This Zakat is attributed to the Fitr (breaking of the fast) because it becomes obligatory upon the breaking of the fast of Ramadan. Ibn Qutaybah said: It is called Fitrah because al-fitrah is creation, as Allah the Almighty said: "[Adhere to] the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created all people."
