it is obligatory for him, and because the obligation is to grant ownership of the food to the poor person, whereas feeding is merely permitting, not granting ownership. Therefore, according to this narration: if he designates the amount obligatory for each poor person and feeds it to him, consider this; if he says: "This is for you to dispose of as you wish," it suffices him because he has granted him ownership of it. If he does not say anything to him, it is possible that it suffices him because he has fed him what is obligatory for him, thus it is like a case where he granted him ownership of it; and it is possible that it does not suffice him because he did not grant him ownership of it. The second narration is that it suffices him to gather sixty poor people and feed them. Abu Dawud said: I heard Ahmad being asked about a woman who broke her fast during Ramadan, then another Ramadan reached her, and then she died. He said: "How many did she miss?" He said: "Thirty days." He said: "Then gather thirty poor people and feed them one time, and satiate them." This is because the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to the one who had intercourse: "Feed sixty poor people." This man has fed them, and Allah the Almighty said: "...feeding sixty poor people" [Al-Mujadilah: 4]. And He said regarding the expiation for an oath: "...the feeding of ten poor people from the average of that with which you feed your own families" [Al-Ma'idah: 89]. This man has fed them. It was narrated from Anas that he broke his fast in Ramadan, so he gathered the poor, placed bowls, and fed them. Because he fed sixty poor people, it sufficed him, just as if he had granted them ownership of it. Therefore, according to this narration, if he feeds them the amount obligatory for them, it suffices him, and if he feeds them less than that but satiates them, the apparent opinion of Ahmad is that it suffices him because he has fed them. It is also possible that it does not suffice him because he did not feed them what was obligatory for them.
Section: It suffices in the expiation what suffices in the Zakat al-Fitr, from wheat, barley, their flour, dates, and raisins. Regarding dried yogurt (aqit), there are two views, and regarding bread, there are two narrations. Likewise, this applies to
