Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz delayed the bowing of the tawaf until the sun rose. If one bows after each circuit immediately upon finishing it, that is better, for in it is emulation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and an avoidance of the disagreement.

Section: When he finishes the bowing and wishes to go out to al-Safa, it is recommended that he return to touch the Black Stone. Ahmad stated this explicitly, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did so. Jabir mentioned it in the description of the Prophet’s Hajj (14), and Ibn Umar used to do it. This is the opinion of al-Nakha'i, Malik, al-Thawri, al-Shafi'i, Abu Thawr, and the scholars of opinion. We do not know of any disagreement regarding this.

Jabir (2) said in the description of the Hajj of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, after the two rak'ahs of tawaf: Then he returned to the corner and touched it, then he went out from the gate to al-Safa, and when he drew near to al-Safa, he recited: "Indeed, al-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah" (3). "We begin with what Allah began with." So he began with al-Safa, ascended it until he saw the House, then faced the Qiblah, declared the Oneness of Allah, magnified Him, and said: "There is no god but Allah alone, no partner has He; to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs the praise, and He is over all things omnipotent. There is no god but Allah alone; He fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated the allies (al-ahzab) alone." Then he supplicated between that and said the like of this three times. Ahmad said: And he supplicates
