Al-Mundhir said: Ibn Umar and Ibn Mas'ud used to say upon throwing: O Allah, make it an accepted Hajj and a forgiven sin. [Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas used to raise their hands when they threw at the Jamrah and would prolong their standing. It was narrated from Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid (10) that he said: I performed Hajj with Abdullah, so he threw seven pebbles, saying takbir with each pebble, and he descended into the valley, until when he finished, he said: O Allah, make it an accepted Hajj and a forgiven sin] (11). Then he said: Thus I saw the one upon whom Surah al-Baqarah was revealed act. Narrated by al-Athram (12). From Ata', he said: Ibn Umar used to stand at the two Jamarat for as long as it takes for a man to recite Surah al-Baqarah. Narrated by al-Athram.
Section: One should not throw during the days of Tashriq except after the sun has passed the meridian. If he throws before the meridian, he must repeat it. Ahmad stated this explicitly (13). This was also narrated from Ibn Umar, and it is the view of Malik, al-Thawri, al-Shafi'i, Ishaq, and the People of Opinion (Ashab al-Ra'y). It was also narrated from al-Hasan and Ata'. However, Ishaq and the People of Opinion granted a concession to throw on the day of Nafar before the meridian, but one should not depart until after the meridian. A similar view is narrated from Ahmad. Ikrimah also granted a concession for that. Tawus said: He may throw before the meridian and depart before it. Our evidence is that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) only threw after the meridian, due to the saying of Aisha: He would throw at the Jamrah when the sun had passed the meridian (14). And the saying of Jabir, in the description of the Hajj of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) throw at the Jamrah in the forenoon of the Day of Sacrifice, and after that, he threw after the sun had passed the meridian (15). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Take your rituals from me" (16).
