saying: "O Allah, if You have not accepted my Hajj, my fatigue, and my toil, then do not deprive me of the reward of the one afflicted for his affliction (21). I know of no greater affliction than that of one who has come to Your fountain and departed (22) deprived of the object of his desire (23)." Another said: "O Best of those to whom one is sent as a guest, my strength has weakened, and my vigor has departed (24). I have come to You with sins that the seas cannot wash away. I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and in Your pardon from Your punishment. My Lord, have mercy on one whom sins have encompassed, whom transgressions have overwhelmed, and from whom faults have appeared. Have mercy on a captive of hardship and a fugitive of poverty. I ask You to grant me forgiveness for my great crime, O One from whom His blessings are increased and in whom one seeks refuge from His punishments. Have mercy on the voice of a sorrowful one who has called upon You with deep sighs and gasps. O Allah, if I have extended my hands to You in supplication, it is because You have often sufficed me while I was heedless. So by Your grace, which manifested upon me during my heedlessness, I do not despair of it at the time of my repentance. Do not sever my hope in You for what I have previously committed. Grant me righteousness in my children, security in my land, and well-being in my body, for You are All-Hearing, All-Responding. O Allah, You have rights upon me, so forgive them for me, and people have claims against me, so bear them on my behalf. You have made hospitality an obligation for every guest, and I am Your guest tonight, so make my hospitality Paradise. O Allah, here is Your seeker at Your door, whose days have passed, [and whose sins have remained] (25), whose desires have ceased, and whose liabilities have remained. So be pleased with him, and if You are not pleased with him, then pardon him, for a master may pardon his servant while he is not pleased with him." Then he sends blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. If a woman is menstruating, she does not enter the mosque; rather, she stands at (26) its door and supplicates with that.
