He means by that what is sewn according to the size of the body, such as a shirt or trousers. If he wears a joined izar (wrapper), or wraps himself in a sewn garment, it is permissible. It is recommended that they be clean, either new or washed, because we loved for him to be clean in his body, so it is the same for his garments, like the one attending Jumu'ah. It is more appropriate that they be white, according to the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The best of your garments is white; wear them during your lives and shroud your dead in them."
Issue 556: He said: (And he applies perfume).
The total of this is that it is recommended for whoever wishes to enter into ihram to apply perfume to his body specifically, and there is no difference between that which its substance remains, such as musk and ghaliyah, or its trace, such as oud, incense, and rose water. This is the opinion of Ibn Abbas, Ibn al-Zubayr, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, 'Aishah, Umm Habibah, and Mu'awiyah. It was also narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah, Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, 'Urwah, al-Qasim, al-Sha'bi, and Ibn Jurayj. 'Ata' used to dislike this, and it is the opinion of Malik.
