If he does not know, he returns to the word of the experts based on what appears likely to them by approximation. If he mentions the species of a slave and it is of varying types, such as Turkic—among them the Jikli (36) and the Khazari (37)—does one need to specify it, or is mentioning the species sufficient? There are two possibilities. One does not need to mention (38) whether a female slave is a virgin or non-virgin, because the price does not vary significantly due to that, and such a thing is not taken into account, as is the case with attributes of beauty and charm; however, if he does mention any of [these attributes] (39), he is bound by them. [He mentions whether she is a virgin or non-virgin; because the price varies based on that, and it is a matter of concern] (40). He mentions height: khumasi (five) or sudasi (six), meaning five spans or six spans. Ahmad said: One says khumasi, sudasi, black, white, foreign, or eloquent. As for camels, he restricts them with four attributes: he says, "from the offspring of the sons of so-and-so," the age, such as bint makhad or bint labun, the color, whether white, red, or warqa' (41), and whether male or female.
