Section: It is permissible to hire a cupper to perform cupping for him, and his fee is permissible. This is the choice of Abu al-Khattab. This is also the opinion of Ibn Abbas, who said: "I eat it." This was also the view of Ikrimah, al-Qasim, Abu Ja'far, Muhammad ibn Ali ibn al-Husayn, Rabi'ah, Yahya al-Ansari, Malik, al-Shafi'i, and the People of Reason (Ahl al-Ra'y). Al-Qadi said: "The fee of the cupper is not permissible." He mentioned that Ahmad stated this in several places, and he said: "If he is given something without a contract or condition, it is permissible for him to take it, and he should spend it on fodder for his animals, food for his servants, and the expenses of his profession, but it is not permissible for him to consume it." Among those who disliked the earnings of the cupper were Uthman, Abu Hurayrah, al-Hasan, and al-Nakha'i. This is because the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The earnings of the cupper are impure (khabith)." [Narrated by Muslim]. And he said: "Feed it to your camel and your servants." Our evidence is what Ibn Abbas narrated, saying: "The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had cupping performed, and he gave the cupper his fee; had he known it to be forbidden, he would not have given it to him." This is mutually agreed upon. In another wording: "Had he known it to be impure, he would not have given it."
