Section: If some of the heirs, for whom the inheritance case has been increased (awl), acknowledge someone who would make them (the deceased's children) residuaries, the 'awl' (increase in the base of the inheritance) is eliminated. For example, in a case involving a husband and two sisters, if one of the sisters acknowledges a brother of hers, multiply the case of acknowledgement, which is eight, by the case of denial, which is seven, becoming fifty-six. The denier has two shares, which is sixteen in the case of acknowledgement, and the acknowledger has a share in the case of denial, seven, with nine shares remaining in her hand. The husband is then asked; if he denies, he is given three in eight, [totaling] twenty-four, and the acknowledger pays to the acknowledged person everything that remained in her hand. If the husband acknowledges him as well, he claims four and the brother claims fourteen, totaling eighteen; you divide the nine by this, paying two shares to the husband and seven to the brother. If both sisters acknowledge him and the husband denies him, and he (the brother) denies them, there are three perspectives: First, that [the share] is left in the hand of the one who currently holds it, because the acknowledgement became void due to the lack of corroboration by the acknowledged person. Second, the husband and the two sisters reach a settlement regarding it; he has half of it and they have half, because it does not exit their possession, and the brother has nothing in it, for it is impossible for him to have anything in it under any circumstance. Third, it is taken to the Public Treasury (Bayt al-Mal), because it is wealth for which no owner has been established. The school of Abu Hanifa, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding the first scenario is that if the husband denies, the acknowledger takes her two shares out of seven, and she divides them between herself and her sister by three; multiply three by seven, becoming twenty-one, of which they have six; she has two shares and her sister has four. If the husband acknowledges him, his shares are added to their two shares, becoming five, and they divide them among themselves by seven; the husband has four, the brother has two, and the sister has one. Then you multiply seven by seven, becoming forty-nine, which is the base of the calculation; the denier has two shares in seven, [totalling] fourteen, the husband has four in five, the brother has two in five, and the acknowledger has one in five. If she left behind a mother, a husband, and a paternal sister, and the sister acknowledges a brother of hers, the case of denial is from eight, and the case of acknowledgement is from eighteen. They coincide by halves, so multiply the half of one of them by the other, becoming seventy-two; the mother has eighteen, and in the hand of
