Zaynab bint Jahsh al-Asadiyya. Ibn Mas'ud said to his sister: I adjure you by Allah to marry a Muslim, even if he be a fair-skinned Roman or a black Ethiopian. And because compatibility does not exceed being a right for the woman, or for the guardians, or for both of them, its existence is therefore not a condition, just like being free from defects. It has been narrated that Abu Hind cupped the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on his crown, and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "O Banu Bayadah, marry [your women] to Abu Hind, and marry [your women] from him." Al-Daaraqutni narrated it, although Ahmad weakened it and denied it strongly. The correct view is that it is not a condition, and what has been narrated regarding it indicates its consideration in general, but it does not necessitate that it be a condition; this is because the wife and each one of the guardians have a right in it, and whoever among them is not pleased has the right of annulment. For this reason, when a man married his daughter to his brother's son to raise his low status thereby, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave her the choice, and she approved what her father had done.
