469 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il informed us, saying: Ja'far ibn 'Awn reported to us, from Mis'ar, from Ibn Juhadah, from Abu Sa'id, who said: "When 'Ali would come to the marketplace, he would say: 'O people of the market, fear Allah! Beware of swearing oaths, for swearing oaths promotes the sale of goods but wipes away the blessing (barakah). Indeed, the merchant is a profligate, except for the one who takes what is right and gives what is right. Peace be upon you.' Then he would turn away, and then he would return to them and say to them the same as his statement. He said: So when he came to them, they would say: 'Budushkum has come.' What did they mean by that? He said: So he went to his concubine and said: 'When I come to the people of the market, they say: Budushkum has come. What do they mean by that?' She said: 'They say: the one with the big belly.' He said: 'Its lower part is food, and its upper part is knowledge.'"
