545 - He [Al-Khallal] said: And I read to him [the narrator]: Abu al-Mughirah said: Safwan narrated to us, saying: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr narrated to us, from his father, from 'A'ishah, who said: "The people used to come to me to criticize 'Uthman, and I did not see it as anything other than a reprimand. As for his blood [his killing], I seek refuge in Allah from his blood. By Allah, I wished that I had lived in this world as a leper, suffering, rather than ever mentioning 'Uthman with a single word." Then she mentioned some words in which she favored 'Uthman over 'Ali."
٥٤٥ - قَالَ: وَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ: أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ: ثَنَا صَفْوَانُ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: «كَانَ الْقَوْمُ يَخْتَلِفُونَ إِلَيَّ فِي عَيْبِ عُثْمَانَ، وَلَا أَرَى إِلَّا أَنَّهَا مُعَاتَبَةٌ، وَأَمَّا دَمُهُ، فَأَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ دَمِهِ، وَاللَّهِ وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي عِشْتُ فِي الدُّنْيَا بَرْصَاءَ صَالِخًا، وَإِنِّي لَمْ أَذْكُرْ عُثْمَانَ بِكَلِمَةٍ قَطُّ، فَذَكَرْتُ كَلَامًا فَضَّلْتُ عُثْمَانَ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ»
