618 - Al-Hasan ibn Salih al-'Attar informed me, saying: Harun ibn Ya'qub al-Hashimi narrated to us, [415] saying: I heard my father say: Abu 'Abd Allah said: "What would disqualify 'Ali from the caliphate when a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, named him Commander of the Believers, among them 'Ammar ibn Yasir and Ibn Mas'ud?"
