638 - Muhammad ibn Abi Harun and Muhammad ibn Ja'far informed me that Abu al-Harith narrated to them, saying: A group came to us carrying a paper; they had arrived from al-Raqqah, and we brought it to Abu 'Abd Allah, asking: "What do you say, may Allah have mercy on you, regarding one who says that the hadith of Safinah, the hadith of Sa'id ibn Jumhan, is false?" Abu 'Abd Allah replied: "This is an evil, vile statement. These people are to be avoided, not sat with, and their affair is to be exposed to the people."
