'Abd al-Malik al-Maymuni informed me, saying: Ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Marwan ibn Shuja' narrated to us, saying: Khusayf narrated to me, on the authority of Mujahid and 'Ata', on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas, that Mu'awiyah informed him: "That he saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) shorten his hair with a mishqas (arrowhead)." He said: I said to Ibn 'Abbas: "This has not reached us except from Mu'awiyah." He replied: "Mu'awiyah was not someone who would be suspected regarding the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)."
