687 - 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us, saying: Sa'dan ibn Yazid al-Bazzar told me, saying: Abu Salih al-Farra' told me, saying: I heard Yusuf ibn Asbat say: A man said to Sufyan al-Thawri: "It has reached us that you hate Uthman?" He was alarmed and said: "No, by Allah, nor Mu'awiyah; may Allah have mercy on them both."
