713 - Abu Bakr al-Marwudhi informed us, saying: It was said to Abu 'Abd Allah while we were at al-'Askar, and some of the Caliph's messengers, who was Ya'qub, had come, and he said: O Abu 'Abd Allah, what do you say regarding that which occurred between 'Ali and Mu'awiyah, may Allah have mercy on them both? Abu 'Abd Allah replied: "I do not say anything about them except what is good; may Allah have mercy on them all."
