403 - Ahmad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Zakariyya al-Salihy informed us, saying: Yazid ibn Qubays narrated to us, saying: Damrah ibn Rabi'ah al-Ramli narrated to us, from Ibn Shawdhab, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Qasim, who said: I heard the mawla of 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Samurah, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Samurah, who said: "'Uthman came on the day the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, equipped the army of al-'Usrah (the time of hardship) with one thousand dinars in his garment, until he scattered them into the lap of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 'Abd al-Rahman said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was turning those dinars over, saying: 'Nothing will harm 'Uthman regardless of what he does after today.'"
