424 - 'Abd al-Malik informed me, saying: Ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Sa'd ibn Ibrahim, that he heard his father narrate that he heard 'Uthman ibn 'Affan say: "These are my two legs; if you find in the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) that you should place them in shackles, then place them [there]."
٤٢٤ - أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا ابْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ يُحَدِّثُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ، يَقُولُ: «هَاتَانِ رِجْلَايَ، إِنْ وَجَدْتُمْ فِي كِتَابَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ تَضَعُوهُمَا فِي الْقُيُودِ فَضَعُوهُمَا»
