432 - 'Abd al-Malik informed me, saying: Ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Isma'il narrated to us, saying: Ibn 'Awn narrated to us, from Muhammad, who said: "There were seven hundred people with 'Uthman in the house that day. Had he called upon them [334]... they would have struck them, if Allah willed, until they drove them out from its surroundings. Among them, however, were Ibn 'Umar, al-Hasan ibn 'Ali, and Ibn al-Zubayr."
