450 - Muhammad informed us, saying: Waki' reported to us, from 'Ali ibn Salih, from his father, from Sa'id ibn 'Amr al-Qurashi, who said: I said to 'Abd Allah ibn 'Ayyash al-Zuraqi: "Tell me about this man, 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, for we are people of status and noble lineage, and we dislike saying what these [people] say." He said: So he replied: "'Ali, when he struck, he struck with a tooth of iron." I asked: "And what is a tooth of iron?" He replied: "Recitation of the Qur'an, understanding in religion, courage, and generosity."
