969 - Sulayman al-Ash'ath informed us, saying: I heard Ahmad. Yahya said: Sufyan used to disapprove of saying, 'I am a believer.' Sulayman said: And Ahmad narrated to us, [saying] Waki' narrated to us, saying: Sufyan said: 'In our view, people are believers regarding the [legal] rulings and inheritance. We hope they are such, but we do not know what our state is before Allah.'
