854 - Muhammad ibn 'Ali informed me, saying: Muhanna narrated to us, saying: I asked Ahmad about Yazid ibn al-Muhallab. He said: 'A Basran.' I said: 'What is his character?' He said: 'He was a man of sedition (fitnah).' He says: 'He is the one about whom Shu'bah says: I heard al-Hasan saying: "This is the enemy of Allah, Ibn al-Muhallab."'
