1201 - Abu Bakr informed us, he said: Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to me, he said: Zuhayr, meaning Ibn Muhammad, narrated to us, from Salih, meaning Ibn Kaysan, that 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Umamah informed him, that Abu Umamah informed him, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Al-badhadhah (wearing coarse or simple clothes) is from faith." Abu 'Abd Allah said: Al-badhadhah means leading a life of asceticism/frugality among people."
