Both of them said, regarding Abu Abd Allah, that they asked him about the hadith of Abu Bakr: "Disbelief in Allah is [to] disavow a lineage, even if it is slight, and disbelief in Allah is to lay claim to a lineage that is not known." Salih said: He said, "This has been narrated from Abu Bakr, and Allah knows best." Abu al-Harith said: "I do not know," or he said: "I have no knowledge [of it], we have written it as such," said Abu al-Harith.
وَقَالَا جَمِيعًا، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّهُمَا سَأَلُوهُ عَنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ: «كُفْرٌ بِاللَّهِ تَبَرُّؤٌ مِنْ نَسَبٍ وَإِنْ دَقَّ، وَكُفْرٌ بِاللَّهِ ادِّعَاءٌ إِلَى نَسَبٍ لَا يُعْلَمُ» . قَالَ صَالِحٌ: قَالَ: قَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، فَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَالَ أَبُو الْحَارِثِ: مَا أَدْرِي. أَوْ قَالَ: مَا أَعْلَمُ، قَدْ كَتَبْنَاهَا هَكَذَا قَالَ أَبُو الْحَارِثِ
