1603 - He said: Abu Abd Allah narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, saying: Sa'id—meaning Ibn 'Abd al-Rahman—narrated to us, from Muhammad, who said: Abd Allah ibn 'Utbah said: "Let one of you fear being a Jew or a Christian while he is unaware." Muhammad said: I surmised that he derived this from this verse: "And whoever amongst you takes them as allies, then indeed he is one of them" [Al-Ma'idah: 51].
