1608 - Al-Maymuni narrated to us, saying: Abu Ja'far al-Nufayli narrated to us, saying: I recited to Ma'qil ibn 'Ubayd Allah al-'Absi, who said: I saw with Maymun ibn Mihran a man from Banu Asad who was blind and leprous, and flies would land on him and then land on Maymun. He said to Maymun: "Read a surah for us and interpret it, O Abu Ayyub." So he recited: "When the sun is wrapped up..." until he reached: "Verily, this is the word of a noble messenger, possessed of power, with the Lord of the Throne, secure, obeyed there and trustworthy" [At-Takwir: 19-21]. He said: "That is Jibril, peace be upon him; and disappointment awaits the one who claims that his faith is like the faith of Jibril."
