1651 - He said: Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, saying: Bahz ibn Asad narrated to me, saying: 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, saying: Taysalah ibn 'Ali narrated to us, saying: I saw 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar among the roots of the Arak trees on the Day of 'Arafah. He said: And in front of him was a man from the people of Iraq. He said: 'O Ibn 'Umar, what is the hypocrite?' He said: 'The hypocrite is he who, when he speaks, lies; when he promises, he does not fulfill; and when he is entrusted, he does not restore the trust; and he commits a sin by night and a sin by day.' He said: 'O Ibn 'Umar, then what is the believer?' He said: 'He who, when he speaks, tells the truth; when he promises, he fulfills; and when he is entrusted, he restores the trust; he provides security for those who arrive at evening facing punishment, whether they be one who recognizes it or one who denies it.'
١٦٥١ - قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ، قَالَ: ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، قَالَ: ثنا طَيْسَلَةُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ فِي أُصُولِ الْأَرَاكِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، قَالَ: وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ. فَقَالَ: يَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ، مَا الْمُنَافِقُ؟ قَالَ: «الْمُنَافِقُ الَّذِي إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ , وَإِذَا وَعَدَ لَمْ يُنْجِزْ، وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ لَمْ يُؤَدِّ، وَذَنَبٌ بِاللَّيْلِ , وَذَنَبٌ بِالنَّهَارِ» . قَالَ: يَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ، فَمَا الْمُؤْمِنُ؟ قَالَ: «الَّذِي إِذَا حَدَّثَ صَدَقَ، وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَنْجَزَ، وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ أَدَّى، يَأْمَنُ مَنْ أَمْسَى بِعُقُوبَةٍ , مِنْ عَارِفٍ أَوْ مُنْكِرٍ»
