1658 - Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, saying: Waki' narrated to us, from Sallam ibn Miskin, from a sheikh of theirs whom he would not name, from Abu Wa'il, that he was invited to a feast and saw entertainers, so he left. He said: I heard Ibn Mas'ud saying: "Singing sprouts hypocrisy just as water sprouts vegetation."
١٦٥٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سَلَّامِ بْنِ مِسْكِينٍ، عَنْ شَيْخٍ لَهُمْ لَمْ يَكُنْ يُسَمِّيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ أَنَّهُ دُعِيَ إِلَى وَلِيمَةٍ فَرَأَى لَعَّابِينَ , فَخَرَجَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ: «الْغِنَاءُ يُنْبِتُ النِّفَاقَ كَمَا يُنْبِتُ الْمَاءُ الْبَقْلَ»
