1703 - Muhammad ibn al-Husayn informed me that al-Fadl narrated to him, saying: Abu 'Abd Allah said: "As for the Jahmiyyah, do not speak to them." And 'Ali ibn 'Abd al-Samad informed him, saying: I asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal about a neighbor of ours who is a Jahmi and greets me with peace; should I return the greeting? He replied: "No."
١٧٠٣ - وَأَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، أَنَّ الْفَضْلَ، حَدَّثَهُ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: «أَمَّا الْجَهْمِيَّةُ، فَلَا تُكَلِّمْهُمْ» . وَأَخْبَرَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ حَنْبَلٍ عَنْ جَارٍ لَنَا جَهْمِيٍّ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيَّ، أَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: «لَا»
