1737 - Muhammad ibn 'Ali al-Warraq informed us, saying: 'Abbas ibn Abi Talib narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Yusuf al-Zimmi narrated to us, saying: I saw Iblis in a dream, with his feet on the earth and his head in the sky. He was black as the night, his cheeks covered with hair, and he had two eyes on his chest. I said: 'If this is Iblis, then this is him.' I began reciting the Verse of the Throne (Ayat al-Kursi), and he kept shrinking until he became like one of us. I approached him and said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'Iblis.' I said: 'Where have you come from?' He said: 'From Iraq.' I said: 'Did you leave anyone as your deputy?' He said: 'There is no city, nor village, nor house, except that I have a deputy in it.' I said: 'Where are you heading?' He said: 'To this one,' meaning Merv. I said: 'Who is your deputy in Iraq?' He said: 'Bishr al-Mirrisi; he has called the people to something that I myself was unable to accomplish.' He said: I said: 'So to whom have you come here?' He said: 'To Bishr ibn Yahya.' Abu Dhikra al-Raqqi—who is al-Zimmi—said: 'He (Bishr ibn Yahya) subscribes to the view of Bishr al-Mirrisi.'
