1824 - 'Abd Allah b. Ahmad informed us, saying: My father was asked about the Waqifi [one who withholds judgment regarding the createdness of the Quran], and my father said: "Whoever engages in argumentation and is known for [the science of] scholastic theology (Kalam), he is a Jahmi. As for the one who is not known for [the science of] scholastic theology, he should be shunned until he recants."
١٨٢٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ أَبِي عَنِ الْوَاقِفِيِّ، فَقَالَ أَبِي: «مَنْ كَانَ يُخَاصِمُ وَيَعْرِفُ بِالْكَلَامِ، فَهُوَ جَهْمِيٌّ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْ بِالْكَلَامِ، يُجَانَبْ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ»
