the Magians used to greet the king during the festivals of Nowruz and Mihragan, saying to him: "Live, O King, for a thousand years, all of which are like this day of yours."

Allah, may He be exalted, says: "But being granted a long life will not remove him from the punishment" [2:96], meaning: his long life will not distance him from the punishment. [Ayah 97-100]
