"Say, whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is he who has brought it down upon your heart, by permission of Allah" [2:97], meaning: he brought down the Quran, "confirming what came before it" from the Book of Allah, may He be exalted.
Qatadah said: It was mentioned to us that Umar ibn al-Khattab approached a group of Jews, and when they saw him, they welcomed him.
